Itinerary
DAY 01: CUSCO – MOLLEPATA – SORAYPAMPA
Soraypampa – Cusco
Very early we will leave Cusco, passing by the towns of Izcuchaca and Limatambo. After 3 hours of travel from Cusco we arrive at Mollepata – Marcoccasa (3200 m .s.n.m). In this place we will have breakfast at a local restaurant. We then will start our walk to our first lunch spot. The first two hours we climb to 3700 m high, then we descend for one hour and thirty minutes to the first lunch place (Challacancha, 3720 m high) After lunch we continue the route between valleys, mountains and Humantay (5217 m.) and the Salkantay mountain (6264 m. S) for 3 hours until our first camp, Soraypampa (3800 m high). On this day after arriving at our camp, we have the option to visit a small lake that is about 4200 high. The route to this place is forty-five minutes to one hour of climbing upwards.

DAY 02: SORAYPAMPA – HUAYRAQMACHAY – CHAULLAY
This day we wake up very early (5:00 am) and have breakfast at 5:30 am, since this day will be the most difficult. After breakfast, we start the day hike, this will be a day full of adventures because it will be the day that we will cross the field in front of Salkantay mountain until arriving at the highest point of the passage of Salkantay (4600 m. S), from where we will be able to see all the majestic views of the area. The first 4 hours the walk will be uphill to the highest point, then we will descend for 2 hours approx. until the place of our lunch Huayraqmachay (3850 m of height). After lunch we have 3 hours more of hiking (descending) to our camp called Chaullay (2820 m high).

DAY 03: CHAULLAY – SAHUAYACO – SANTA TERESA
We will wake up at five thirty in the morning and then start the walk around six thirty. This day will be unforgettable because we will see changes in the natural surroundings. We will go from snowy mountains to inter-Andean sites with a variety of flora and fauna native to this area. We will pass very close to the Andean community of Rayanniyoc where we will begin to descend towards the jungle, crossing cloudy forests. We will also see valleys of small formations of hot springs, which follow the course of the Santa Teresa River. The warm and humid climate of this area has created a perfect habitat for many varieties of orchids. The many orchid species grow in what botanists consider to be the most beautiful and colorful in the world. After walking for 6 hours approx. we will arrive at our camp and lunch (Sahuayaco or Playa 2200 m high). This day after lunch we have the option to visit the hot springs of Cocalmayo – Santa Teresa (which will take a short bus trip to arrive and then return to our camp- this bus ride is not included, but is optional.)

DAY 04: SAHUAYACO – LLAQTAPATA – HYDROELECTRIC – AGUAS CALIENTES
We wake up very early at 4 am and have our breakfast at 4:30 am and start our walk at 5:00 am. The first 3 hours the road will be uphill to the archaeological site of Llaqtapata (3200 m high). From here we will be able to see the mountain of Machu Picchu and some Incan terraces in the distance. We will then descend for 2 hours and a half to Hidroelectrica, where we will enjoy our lunch. After our lunch we will begin our trekking (a hilly path) for 3 hours and a half to the town of Aguas Calientes and head to the hostal. Then we will have our dinner at a tourist restaurant.

DAY 05: AGUAS CALIENTES / MACHU PICCHU / CUSCO
This day we wake up early at 4:00 am, to take the first bus to the archaeological site of Machu Picchu, appreciate the sunrise and take the first photos of Machu Picchu. The guided tour in this place will be 2 hours aprox. And then you will have free time to visit and take photos of other places in Machu Picchu. After visiting all of Machu Picchu we head to the bus station and return to the town of Aguas Calientes and the train station. We will take the train (Expedition) for an hour and forty minutes to the station of Ollantaytambo. Then, take our private bus to Cusco – Hotel.
