Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco – Cachora – Capulichayoc – Chiquiska

We leave Cusco (5:00 AM) heading towards Cachora (2850m) which is 4 hours from the city of Cusco. Here is the meeting point with our horsemen and their mules. These will be responsible for transporting the camping equipment along our tour. Cachora village is located at the foot of a mountain called Padreyoc. On the back it has a spectacular viewpoint called Capulichayoc (2850m). Hence the great canyon of Apurimac is observed with a spectacular view of the mountains. From this viewpoint we begin the descent into the canyon to our camp in the forest Chiquiska (1930m). As we descend the temperature rises. The camp is surrounded by fruit trees. Dinner will be prepared by our cook.

Day 2: Chiquiska – Playa Rosalinda – Marampata – Choquequirao

This day we will begin the hike early (6:00 AM) descend for 30 minutes to Playa Rosalinda (1500m). Since this place is the canyon. This place during the day is very hot. Rosalinda cross the bridge here to begin the ascent to the town of Marampata (2850m). Here we have a spectacular view of the canyon while enjoying our lunch, after lunch and rest we drive to our camp in Choquequirao (3033m). The landscape changes along the way vegetation is more abundant trees and bromeliads and ferns. Here we spend the second night. Dinner will be in charge of our chef.

Day 03:

Visit the archaeological site Choquequirao all day.

Day 04: Choquequirao – Choquequirao Paso – Rio Blanco – Maizal

At dawn the first rays of sun fall on Choquequirao (3033m). After a visit inside the park we head towards Choquequirao Pass (3500m) surrounded by native trees, flowers, and orchids. Once in step we observe around huge mountains and deep canyon Rio Blanco. From the top we descend to our lunch camp deep in the canyon next to Rio Blanco (1000m). Then we ascend toward the other end along a road surrounded by greenery in a warm climate to our camp in Maizal (3000m). This place has a spectacular view of the mountains. Here we spend the fourth night. Dinner will be in charge of our cook.

Day 05: Maizal – Paso San Juan – Yanama

This day after breakfast we will walk along a road surrounded by greenery and flowers. Along the road remains of mines that were once exploited are observed. As we move forward and climb the weather gets a little more ice cream and find remains of an Inca road. This path will lead us to the Paso de San Juan (4200m). From this beautiful place you can see a great chain of mountains called the Cordillera Vilcabamba which is over 5300 meters elevation. They are also seen many glaciers and mountains surrounding it. After some photos and a break in Paso de San Juan not drive to our camp in the village of Yanama (3500m). Along the way you can see on your way with many stones of different colors. This is due to the large presence of minerals that we have in this place (silver, gold). A little further down this camp in the village of Yanama. This place is cold. Here we spend the fifth night and again our cook prepare us a delicious dinner.

Day 06: Yanama – Step Yanama – Totora Pampa

After breakfast we will begin our trek to the highest point of our entire trip. Along we observe some impressive scenery, native birds, native trees and shrubs of this ecological level (this height). By their remoteness from cities and how quiet the area is very likely that we can see condors that inhabit these places once at the highest point Yanama Pass (4680m). From this point observe the snowy Salkantay (6400m), Humantay (6000m) and Pintuyo (5460m) and one can observe the Andes and its spectacular mountains and observe deep valley of Totora (3250m) where we will make our camp (this day we the highway in some parts). Dinner will be in charge of our chef.

Day 07: Totora – Collpapampa – Huiñaypoco – La Playa – Santa Teresa

This day after breakfast descend through a canyon that is surrounded by vegetation (jungle). In this valley the temperature increases with the passing hours. This valley is inhabited by bromeliads, orchids, fruit trees, waterfalls, insects, birds, butterflies, and more. The measures we walk reach different towns. Along the way we will find places where we can buy cold drinks. Our camp is the village called La Playa (2010m). This place is very nice warm weather. Here we wait the sunset while our cook prepares our dinner.

This day we have the option to enjoy the thermal baths of Santa Teresa.

Day 08: La Playa – Lucmabamba – Llactapata – Aguas Calientes

This day we will go into the valley to climb Lucmabamba an Inca road surrounded by coffee plantations, fruit trees and orchids. The weather is very cool in the morning and spend hours is very warm with the presence of mosquitoes. The top observe the valleys of Willcamayu and Santa Teresa. A few meters below, we find an archaeological park called Llactapata (2650m). Here we will explore the park with the help of our guide and observe the back of Machu Picchu and the surrounding mountains. Then we descend through a valley surrounded by coffee, orchids and fruit trees. The weather here is warm and after a couple of hours down the mountain reach Hidroelectrica, after our lunch we headed to the town of Aguas Calientes and spend the night in a hotel and dinner at a tourist restaurant.

Day 09: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

This day we will take an early bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu (2400m). When we started with our guide guided by the Inca city of Machu Picchu tour. After the guided tour through the park you will have a couple of free hours to explore the archaeological park. Then we take the bus to Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes for lunch, rest, then take the train to the town of Ollantaytambo, here we expect the bus to move to the city of Cusco – hotel.
