Pongo de Mainique Tour 6D/5N

North of Cusco, is a huge cannon called the Pongo (its original name). It is the breakdown of the Cordillera del Vilcabamba through which runs the waters of the Urubamba River. This famous river is born in nearby glaciers to Cusco and its waters irrigate the Sacred Valley. The put has an area of 3.6 km and is the gateway to the sanctuary which is part Megantoni. Itinerary

1st day:

We leave from Cusco (3350m) by bus to reach approximately 3:30 Quillabamba we travel, through the Sacred Valley and having the view of the Vilcanota mountain range and part of this range have the highest point is 4600 Malaga port m.

Reaching Quillabamba (1850 high) we will have our first lunch and tour of some places in the village (squares and markets), then we have 3 hours by bus to reach Town of Kiteni (1700 high) where we spend the night and have our dinner at a hostel in the village.

2nd day:

This day we wake up very early 5:00 am to have breakfast and start our trip again 2hour bus approx. to reach the town of Ivochote (1500 high), from this place we will start our adventure by boat, the river we have is the villcamayu (sacred river), after traveling two hours and going through an incredible view llagamos to the Pongo, here the view is a lot better after passing the Pongo have 2:30 over until we reach our lodge (Sabeti – Timpia 1400 high) in this place we have our lunch and dinner.

3rd day:

The day after our breakfast we: collpas or visit the place where the parrots and other birds that are virgin jungle and local activities (fishing and visiting families native place).

4th day:

This day we walk for most of the day because explore the forest (wildlife) and visit a native Machiguenga village, then we return to our lodge Sabeti.

5th day:

This day started to return to the town that is 4:30 Ivochote approx. boat, then take our bus to the town of Kiteni place where we will have lunch, after our lunch we have 3 hours by bus to the town of Quillabamba where we spend the night in a hostel and have our dinner.

6th day:

This day after breakfast we return to Cusco 3:30 hours approx. to Cusco.

This tour can be done in 4d / 3n, 5n / 4d.
